How to Install Anchor Track: A Step-by-Step Guide

Installing anchor track, or L-Track, on your truck or trailer provides secure tie-down points exactly where you need them. In this blog post, we'll walk you through the installation process, explain the benefits of L-Track, and highlight the differences between L-Track and E-Track.

Benefits of Installing L-Track

L-Track, also known as logistic track, offers several advantages as a tie-down system:

  • Flexibility: Provides multiple tie-down points along the track.
  • Strength: Made from durable, high-strength materials to secure heavy loads.
  • Versatility: Suitable for various applications in trucks, trailers, and vans.
  • Ease of Use: Quick and straightforward installation and adjustment.

Tools You’ll Need

Before you start, gather the following tools:

  • Cordless Drill with 1/4" Drill Bit
  • Philips Screwdriver
  • 7/16 Wrench
  • Tape Measure
  • Sharpie Marker

The 2" Round Anchor Point Tie Down Kit includes four sets of anchors, bolt plates, rings, and fasteners. In our video, we demonstrate installing two L-Track anchor points on a truck bed floor and two on the front wall. The steps for installing L-Track tie downs on a trailer are essentially the same.

L-Track Anchor Point Installation Steps

Step 1: Measure and Mark

Use a tape measure to determine where you want to install the anchor. Place the anchor in the intended spot and mark both holes with a Sharpie marker.

Step 2: Drill the Holes

Using a cordless drill with a 1/4" bit, drill through the truck bed to create the two installation holes.

Step 3: Place the Anchor

Place an anchor over the holes and insert two screws through the anchor.

Step 4: Secure the Anchor

From the underside of the truck, install a bolt plate through the two fasteners, then add nuts and tighten them with a wrench.

Step 5: Install the Tie Down Ring

Once your anchors are securely tightened, you can install the removable tie-down ring. Grasp the base of the ring while pushing the center down with your thumb. Slide it into place over the anchor and release it to lock it into place.

Tip for Tight Spots

To install L-Track anchor points in tight spots, like the front wall of a truck bed, it's helpful to hold your wrench on the nuts while you tighten the screws from the other side with a screwdriver.

Conclusion

Installing anchor track on your truck or trailer enhances your cargo securing options, providing both flexibility and strength. Whether you're a professional transporter or a weekend warrior, adding L-Track to your vehicle is a practical upgrade.
